Review:

I really enjoyed this book. Jesse was grieving the death of his best friend, James, and I think that Lora did a good job at showing his process, and that all of his grief didn’t immediately disappear the second that him and Cat started falling for each other. I started this book a few days after I had to say goodbye to my dog (coincidentally, her name is Jessie), so all of those feelings were and still are, fresh. That being said, I do think that reading this book helped me feel better. Honestly, this might be a bit of a spoiler, but I was expecting Otto to die during the book, but he didn’t, which was good, because that would have been awful.

I liked how Jesse and Cat’s relationship developed. I find it a bit hard to believe that she wouldn’t of recognized him, but it fit the plot that she didn’t. The idea that everyone else just kept the secret of Jesse’s location felt very Hannah Montana: The Movie-esque, but again, it fit the plot. I admire her sister Valerie’s insistence on standing up for Cat and not liking Jesse on principle that he lied, or rather, omitted, his identity. That’s how I am with my friends (although if one of them was ‘dating’ a famous actor…I might change my tune). Both of Cat’s sisters, and her whole family, were really great characters, and I’m excited to read each of the twins’ stories. Normally, the families of main characters aren’t all that supportive, but I love that they are all so close knit.

Cat and Jesse were so cute together. I liked that their relationship progressed slowly, with Cat being afraid to take things too fast, or date in general. I thought it was actually really mature of her. I can’t wait to see her pop up in the rest of the books in the series! Overall, this was a really good read, and I recommend it to anyone who loves new adult romance books that have dual POVs. There isn’t really any sexual content, so I’d say it’s relatively clean and suitable for teens. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series!
