I was fortunate enough to be invited to the Sourcebooks headquarters in Naperville, Ill. for an event for their young adult imprint, Sourcebooks Fire.  The guest of the event was Marieke Nijkamp, who is the author of two young adult novels.

Her debut novel ‘This Is Where It Ends’ follows four teens during the fifty-four minutes of a school shooting.  Her sophomore novel ‘Before I Let Go’ is a murder mystery set during a cruel Alaskan winter, is out now.  You can learn more about Nijkamp and her books by visiting her official website.

Meeting Nijkamp was delightful.  I read her debut two years ago and I loved it.  We were all able to receive a signed copy of ‘Before I Let Go’ and I was also able to have Nijkamp autograph my ARC copy of ‘This Is Where It Ends’.

Sourcebooks Fire provided us with a ton of awesome swag.  We all got a bag to put our swag in, which included buttons, bookmarks, cups, t-shirts, finished copies of books, ARCs and more.  Definitely heaven for a book lover like me.

We were also given a tour of the headquarters and got to see the different departments and the shipping room.  Think of the shipping room as a bookstore, but full both released and unreleased books. (Basically, all of our dream libraries, if we’re being honest.)
