[ARC REVIEW] “Wild Card” (Seattle Phantom Football #3) By: Maggie Rawdon

The third book in Maggie Rawdon’s Seattle Phantom Football series is here! It’s finally time for Tobias and Scarlett’s moment to shine — keep reading to learn more, and check out this excerpt in case you’re still on the fence!

What is Wild Card by Maggie Rawdon about?

The infamous playboy and star wide receiver for the Seattle Phantom is the last person on earth I would ever expect to come to my rescue. Tobias Westfield and I can’t see eye-to-eye on anything.

But when my date goes to hell and I end up stranded in the pouring rain on my birthday, he’s there—holding my hand and playing the adoring boyfriend. I might have had him all wrong.

Until a leaked video and a motorcycle accident turn everything upside down.

When he struggles in the aftermath, walling himself off from the rest of the world, our friends volunteer my help—whether he wants it or not.

So we’re stuck together while my job is in limbo and he fights to save his career. But every door I open and every day we spend together has me wondering if we’re really all that different…

Review:

“Wild Card” is the third book in Maggie Rawdon’s “Seattle Phantom” series (which is a spin off/continuation of her “Plays & Penalties” series), and I couldn’t recommend it more! It’s Tobias Westfield’s time in the spotlight, even though we’ve seen him appear previously in multiple books. A lot of fan-favorite characters from both the “Plays & Penalties” series and the previous “Seattle Phantom” books are featured heavily in this one, as well. “Wild Card” is first person dual POV, switching between Scarlett and Tobias.

Normally I put this at the end of my reviews, but I’d highly recommend this book for 18+ due to the sexual content that appears throughout the book. (But as always, don’t let me tell you what to do.)

Scarlett and Tobias sort of have an enemies-to-lovers type of vibe going on, even though I’m not quite sure that “enemies” is the right word to describe them. They definitely know how to push each other’s buttons, even though deep down, they both have strong feelings for each other. Whether or not they’re actually going to admit to them, is another story…

I was rooting for them right off the bat, obviously. Adding in forced proximity when Scarlett agrees to help take care of Tobias (not to mention that each of their best friends are dating each other), it doesn’t take long for them to pick up where they left off, even while they’re still adjusting to their new dynamic.

Although this book can definitely be read and understood as a standalone, I’d highly recommend reading each series in order, so that you don’t get spoiled for plot elements of the previous characters. Overall, this was a lovely addition to their football world, and I hope we get to see more of these characters in the future!

Special thanks to Maggie and her team for allowing me to read an ARC! ‘Wild Card” is available now — run and read it!
