It’s official: Sidelined: The QB and Me is officially getting a sequel at Tubi! The movie, based on Wattpad sensation Tay Marley’s “The QB Bad Boy & Me” premiered on Tubi last year, and it was announced today by stars Noah Beck (Drayton) and Siena Agudong (Dallas) that they’ll be returning to the screen as the dynamic duo – but this time, they’re tackling college. (You can read my interview with author Tay Marley about the first book.)
The two announced the sequel via this cute Instagram Reel.
If you’re familiar with Tay Marley’s The QB Bad Boy and Me cinematic (bookish?) universe, you know that there are two books in the series – but the second one is a prequel following Drayton’s parents, not a direct sequel to Dallas and Drayton’s story.
The movie will have a new title, it won’t be Sidelined: The QB and Me 2. Based on social media posts from the cast and crew, it seems like the title – or at least the working title – is Sidelined 2: Intercepted.
What is the sequel to Sidelined: The QB and Me about?
“The sequel will focus on freshman star quarterback Drayton (Beck) as he struggles with the weight of expectations after a devastating setback, while dancer Dallas (Agudong) begins to question the future she thought she wanted. As their high school relationship begins to unravel under the pressures of distance and self-discovery, they’ll learn that the bravest versions of themselves emerge when they let life redirect them.” (via Tubi/TeenVogue)
About the sequel film, stars Noah Beck and Siena Agudong tell Teen Vogue:
“Now that Drayton and Dallas are older, they have a lot more to learn about love. There will be even more heart on the line here. I’m really excited to see where life with our QB takes them,” Agudong says. “We get to see Dallas in college. She’s planned everything up until now, so her life must happen in real-time. I can’t wait to explore who she is in this new chapter.”
According to Beck, the tone of the film is going to age alongside the characters as they move from a high school romcom to a college one:
“Given how the last film ended, I’m honestly just excited to explore college life as Drayton as he enters USC! And more than anything, I’m looking forward to the tone of the film aging with us […] I think being able to further delve into this character will also help me grow as an actor. As for Drayton and Dallas, I think there will be many more obstacles in their relationship that they will have to overcome. Being a former college athlete myself, I understand the difficulties of balancing a lot of plates and the pressures that Drayton may now have to face.”

When will the sequel to Sidelined: The QB and Me be released?
No release date has been announced yet – it’s possible that the movie could be released this fall alongside the start of the college school year, but hopefully late 2025!
What do you hope to see in the sequel? I’m really interested to see how they make the tone shift from high school to college. Let me know your thoughts!
