[ARC REVIEW] “All The Wrong Plays” by: C.W. Farnsworth

The second book in C.W. Farnsworth’s Kluvberg series is here! (The companion to “First Flight, Final Fall”) This time, it’s Sophia Beck’s turn to find love, along with some familiar faces!

What is All The Wrong Plays by C.W. Farnsworth about?

He’s got all the right moves. And makes… all the wrong plays.

Will Aster excels at two soccer and self-sabotage. Following a viral incident involving him and the club owner’s wife, his only option to continue playing is overseas on FC Kluvberg—a team known for not tolerating scandal. A last chance and a harsh wake-up call.

Sophia Beck has spent her life avoiding football. Growing up in the shadow of her family’s stratospheric success in the sport left scars. About to begin her final year of university, she’s eager to pursue a career in photography, not receive an internship assignment involving her brother’s team. The last thing she expects is to meet a guy—a player—who makes her want to watch a game.

He loves soccer. She resents it. Those contrary viewpoints collide when Will and Sophia discover something stronger than their conflicting emotions toward the sport—their feelings for each other.

But… one wrong play can cost the game. And wrong plays are Will’s specialty.

Review:

“All the Wrong Plays” is a companion novel to C.W. Farnsworth’s “First Flight, Final Fall,” which is one of my absolute favorites of hers, so I was so excited to find out that Beck’s sister, Sophia, was finally going to get her happily ever after.

Sophia hates all things football (or soccer, as we call it in America), after being overexposed to it growing up with her star athlete family. Will is fresh off a scandal that cost him his starting spot on his soccer team, and is now in Kluvberg as a last resort to start over. After a chance meeting, Sophia’s job asks her to cover the soccer team, and they’re thrown together. So not only is there the forbidden aspect of their respective careers, but also Will is adjusting to life in a new country, with a new team, and Sophia is his new captain’s little sister.

I remember meeting Sophia during Beck and Saylor’s book, so I was really excited to get to go back to Kluvberg, and especially to see Beck and Saylor again. It was interesting to see the club (and Beck) from a new perspective, as well as to hear about how Will knew so much about Saylor because she’s such a legend over in the United States.

I loved Will and Sophia’s love story – they really fit so well together, despite all of the obstacles in their way, and this was a great addition to the Kluvberg series! It was also fun to see both of the Beck siblings fall in love with American football (soccer) players, and how that influences how they interact. Overall, this was one of my favorite C.W. Farnsworth books, and I highly recommend it for those looking for adult sports romances — especially those involving soccer!
