Welcome to Buried in a Bookshelf

Welcome to Buried in a Bookshelf!

Who are you?

Thank you for asking.  My name is Courtney and I am a freshman in college.  I sing and play drums in my band, Double Identity.  In high school I was a playwright and had two of my plays produced on stage.  As you should have assumed from this blog, I love reading books.  I have been blogging on this site since April 2017 and bookstagramming since 2016.

What kinds of posts should I expect to read?

The short answer to this question is that you should be expecting to read blog posts that are related to books.  I post a lot of book reviews, recommendations, playlists about books and overall bookish content.  If we’re all lucky, I’ll get to interview some awesome authors about their amazing books too.

The long answer is that every Monday a new post will go up that has some sort of bookish content.  Whether it is a list of my favorite books, my thoughts on movie adaptions or anything and everything else, that post will be different each week.  In publishing, most books tend to be published on Tuesdays.  Therefore, almost if not every Tuesday, I will create a ‘Happy Book Birthday’ post.  This will include a list of the books that were released that day.  I will also include the title, author, publisher and photo of each book, buy links and the official synopsis.  Every Wednesday, I will post a review of a book.  The genre will most likely be either young adult contemporary romance, science fiction or fantasy.  I will also include a photo of that book that I took myself.  The props in the photo are there for two reasons.  One is to make it look aesthetically pleasing.  The second is to give you a subtle idea of something that is relevant to the book.  Every Friday, I make a playlist of five songs for the book that was reviewed two days earlier.  If you’re worried about missing a post…don’t be!  Each Saturday I post a ‘Weekly Refresh’, which is a post that includes links to all of the posts that I made that week.  I also do this on the last day of the month, as a ‘Monthly Refresh’.  At the end of each month, I will let you all know what my most anticipated releases are for the upcoming month.  That being said, these are just the planned out posts.  I will also update you all on the giveaways I (hopefully!) win and will be posting some giveaways for you all too.

Since I’m just going to assume that you skimmed that long paragraph or skipped over it completely, here is a reader friendly version of a typical week.

Sunday – N/A

Monday – Bookish Content

Tuesday – Happy Book Birthday

Wednesday – Book Review

Thursday – N/A

Friday – Playlist Friday

Saturday – Weekly Refresh

How can I engage with your posts?

I want you all to engage with my posts.  If you liked one of my reviews, let me know!  If you disagree with something, let me know that too.  I love reading your comments and interacting with you!  Post suggestions are always welcome.  If there’s a topic regarding books that you would like me to talk about, leave a comment or message me about it.  If there are books you would like to see me review, I would be interested it that as well.  You can find my contact information later on in this post, or under my contact page.

Haven’t you been posting on here for a long time now?  Why are you making another ‘About Me’ post?

If you are asking yourself this question, it’s a valid point.  I started this blog on April 23, 2017.  However, I am currently in a college class where I am able to use my blog as an assignment.  Meaning that this blog that I started for fun because I was bored in my study hall class my senior year of high school is now being graded.

What is going to change since your blog is being graded?

Hopefully not a lot is going to change.  I will be using AP style as my format, which is a bit different from how I have been writing this entire time.  It’s still me typing behind this keyboard.  I just want to give you all a fair warning that if from here on out my posts start to sound a little different, that’s why.

Will you review my book?
