‘Love, Simon’ Movie!

I went to go see ‘Love, Simon’ with my friends, and let me tell you….it was absolutely amazing.  I will admit that I haven’t read the book yet (even though I have it), and usually I never go see a movie without reading the book first, but I decided to do that this time.  My sister actually read the book the day before we went to see the movie, and it changed how she viewed the movie.

**Spoilers ahead!  Read at your own risk!

From that first party scene, I shipped Simon and Bram so hard.  Like…I was ready to go down with that ship.  So naturally, when he was crossed off the list as a potential person who could be Blue, I was extremely disappointed.  I had seen on Twitter that there was a black love interest in the book/movie.  But then Simon technically has about three love interests throughout the course of the film, so I thought that was what was being referred to.  Luckily I was wrong.

In the party scene, where Bram was dressed as post-presidential Hawaiian Obama–I thought that was hilarious.  I can’t wait to rewatch the movie years from now and have to explain to my kids or something about the Trump reference.

I was disappointed that there was no mention made about Leah playing the drums.  I play the drums, so I would have loved to see a representation of a girl playing them on screen.  Let’s hope that ‘Leah on the Offbeat’ gets adapted to film too!

Overall, ‘Love, Simon’ is probably one of my favorite movies of all time, and I can’t wait until it’s available on DVD!!
