Today is a great day for book-to-movie adaptation news! Tay Marley’s “The QB Bad Boy and Me,” a teen rom-com that was published by Wattpad Books in 2019, is being adapted into a movie starring TikTok sensation Noah Beck as Drayton Lahey!
What do we know so far about “The QB Bad Boy and Me” movie?
The film will be brought to life by Wattpad Webtoon Studios and Creator+. Beck is set to also produce the project, and production is set to begin this summer. So far, no other casting has been announced — hopefully we’ll find out who will be portraying Dallas soon!
“I am thrilled to be partnering with this incredible team and am honored to bring Tay’s beloved story and characters to life,” Beck tells Deadline. “I can’t wait to get to work and to dive in on all creative aspects of the film.”
A director is not yet attached, so it’ll likely be at least a year until we actually get to see the movie — that just means extra time to re-read the book!
What is “The QB Bad Boy and Me” about?
Reluctant cheerleader Dallas Bryan has a problem on her hands—and his name is Drayton Lahey.
Ever since the hot star quarterback of the high school football team hit her car with his motorcycle, he has the annoying ability to get under her skin, making Dallas think about Drayton way more than she should . . . in all the ways that she shouldn’t.
But Dallas has one goal—to pursue her dance-school dreams in California—and no one, not even a hard-bodied, green-eyed football god, will stop her. As the tension between Drayton and Dallas grows thicker, the lines are getting blurred, and all she wants is to come undone under his touch.
But this thing between Dallas and Drayton could cost her her dreams . . . if he doesn’t break her heart first.
I remember where I was when I first heard about this book — I was at the hair salon dyeing my hair because my junior year was about start soon. As I was scrolling through social media, I saw that it was being published by Wattpad Books. Having grown up as an avid Wattpad reader, I knew I had to order it right away.
I fell in love with the book, and posted my review in January 2020. I was lucky that Tay was kind enough to answer questions about the book for an interview. When I asked if there was any news about a media adaptation, she said, and I quote, “I wish!” — now, over two years later, we know that wish is coming true!
Where can I find updates on the movie adaptation?
I’ll be writing new blog posts as we get more updates on the movie, but make sure to follow me on Twitter (@cityofglamor17), Instagram (@buriedinabookshelf) and TikTok (@buriedinabookshelf) to fangirl more about the book/movie with me! I wonder if the prequel book will also get adapted…but that’s a post for another day.
What Wattpad books are you excited to see get adapted to the big (or small) screen? Let me know! I’m still waiting on more news about the “She’s With Me” TV show!
