I had the privilege of hosting an ARC tour for ‘The Leading Edge of Now’, and today I have Marci on my blog to talk more about the book! It will be released on September 4, 2018.
COURTNEY: What inspired you to write “The Leading Edge of Now”?
MARCI: Hi Courtney! Thanks so much for this fabulous interview! Actually, The Leading Edge of Now came to me like all of my stories do—it just landed in my head, invaded my sleep, bothered me while I was blow-drying my hair, whispered in my ear as I was cooking dinner, until I finally broke down and wrote it.
That’s totally normal, right?
COURTNEY: How long did it take you to write the book?
MARCI: Oh man, this story took forever to write. Okay, that’s dramatic. It took two and a half years, which seemed like forever. I’m a slow writer in general, and this story has personal significance to me, so it really took me a long time to draft.
MARCI: Faith! She really rounded out and became endearing to me when I started revising with my editor, the amazingly talented Kate Egan (of Hunger Games fame).
COURTNEY: If “TLEON” where to be adapted into a movie, who would be your fancasts?
MARCI: Ooooo…this is fun! Okay, let’s see…
Grace: Emma Stone
Owen: Matt Czuchery (who I met once, just sayin’)
Rusty: Woody Harrelson
Janna: Bella Thorne
Faith: Kate Hudson
COURTNEY: What scene was your favorite to write?
MARCI: The pickpocket scene! Once I figured out exactly how it would go down, it was a really fun, easy scene to write.
COURTNEY: Which scene was the hardest for you to write?
MARCI: (Trying to keep spoilers at bay here) There are a few scenes that follow a very big reveal/plot twist in the last third of the story. They were weighty, significant, and delicate–extremely difficult to write.
COURTNEY: Was there a scene that you absolutely loved that you had to end up cutting from the final draft?
COURTNEY: Do you have any other upcoming novels in the works that you can tell me anything about?
MARCI: I’m working on a secret, super fun project right now, but I can’t say anything about it just yet! Hopefully soon!
Huge thanks to Marci for allowing me to interview her! Make sure to check out my ARC review for ‘The Leading Edge of Now’, my playlist for the book, and keep an eye out for it on September 4!
