What inspired you to write this book/series?
My mild obsession with the show Veronica Mars 😉
Was there a scene that you absolutely loved that you had to end up cutting from the final draft?
Not one scene in particular, but i did do a massive rewrite, which hacked 40k words out of the book. I lost a lot of little gems in that, but the book is better for it, so I’m good with it now.
Which character changed the most from the first draft to the final copy?
Honestly, none of them. I generally know my characters inside and out before i start writing them. I never outline a story, but i always hash out who I’m dealing with before I type a word.
Is there anything you can say about the next novel in the series?
OOOOH…. I like this question a lot. In general, I think book two is even better than the first. I think the tension is through the roof, the stakes are CRAZY high, and the growth of the main character is exponential (all things I love to see when i read a series).
How long on average does it take you to write a book?
I would say four weeks to three months is pretty typical, though that doesn’t include revision time (and some of those require a decent amount of that 😉)
Do you hide any secrets in your books that only a few people will find?
I do. I love adding inside jokes that only a few people will understand.
What did you edit out of this book?
Kylene’s mother. She’s mentioned but not present (though that may change in future books….)
