The first book in Kat Singleton’s Pembroke Hills series is here! Kat’s back with another fun billionaire romance in the same world as her best selling Black Tie Billionaires series.
What is In Good Company by Kat Singleton about?
From the #1 bestselling billionaire romance author of Black Ties & White Lies comes an all new series set at an exclusive country club in the Hamptons. In Good Company is an ex’s brother, billionaire, private chef, forced proximity romance.
Callahan Hastings is relentless when it comes to getting what he wants, and what he wants is me–to be his private chef in the Hamptons for the summer.
My dream job served to me on a silver platter by one of the wealthiest members of Pembroke Hills Country Club.
The only catch? He’s my ex-boyfriend’s older brother with a reputation for being as charming as he is cunning.
But Cal doesn’t take no for an answer. He draws you in with flirty smiles and extravagant promises.
I should have seen him coming, but I didn’t. I should have stayed away, but I couldn’t.
His playful touches and burning gaze have ignited a fire in me. The more I resist him, the more irresistible he becomes.
I’ve always known there’s an expiration date on the job–an expiration date on us.
But leaving isn’t going to be easy with Cal on his knees, begging me to stay…

Review:
I read Kat’s Black Tie Billionaires series (and recently got the special edition omnibus) so I was excited when I learned that she was continuing her books in the same / adjacent world as that one! (Her Mixtape series is also set in the same universe, for the record). If you’re a fan of her Black Tie Billionaires series, you just might recognize some faces, but you don’t have to have read her other books in order to read this one.
I liked the camaraderie we got to see between the employees of the ultra rich, which felt realistic (as did having to take jobs working for rich jerks just for the sweet paycheck). I think this one is a sweet romance that fits great if you’re looking for something to read over summer. It’s kind of forced proximity, but since it’s initiated by Cal, I don’t necessarily consider it forced proximity in the same way that I usually think of that trope. Cal is definitely a man obsessed, so if you like that trope, you’ll really enjoy this one!
It seemed kind of soon to repeat the same trope of billionaire + ex’s brother + age gap – I know it takes place in the same universe/social status circle, I was just kind of surprised that she repeated so many of the same tropes so soon, although there had been more distance between her dating his brother. With that distance though I wouldn’t consider that a factor into it being labelled a forbidden romance. Another similarity was in Cal pushing that Lucy work for him, which is similar to plots in the original BTB series. Obviously I know this isn’t how insecurity works, but it kind of struck me as odd of how little confidence Lucy had in her cooking abilities, considering how much praise she received from others about it. I wanted to shake her and tell her to believe in herself more!
As with all of Kat’s books, I recommend this one for 18+ due to some of the mature content – she’s back with her now signature multiple chapters in a row of spice. Overall, this one wasn’t my favorite of hers (I’m most partial still to the first book of hers I read, “Founded on Goodbye”) but it was a cute read, and I’ll definitely still keep up with the rest of the series!
Special thanks to Kat for providing me with an early copy to review! “In Good Company” is available now!
