What is Forever After Fall by Maggie Rawdon about?

One little mistake tangles me up with a sexy stranger in a dark room. Not that I’m complaining. It’s the most fun I’ve had in forever. At least until the lights come on and I see the single dad, my best friend’s older brother and my sister’s widower, standing in his place.

He’s grumpy as hell when he realizes our mistake, and even grumpier when he finds out the two of us are stuck together for the foreseeable future setting up the fall festival at the family ranch.

Meanwhile, I’m trying to figure out how the man from that night is the same steadfast workaholic who eats the food I cook in silence and barely grunts when I thank him for his latest handyman miracle at my house.

No matter how hard I try, I can’t stop thinking about that night. Especially not when we’re working side by side for long hours every day planning romantic hayrides and decorating a haunted house. When I finally admit as much in a moment of weakness. we’re both making confessions that have my heart pounding.

So what if we finish what we started? A secret friends with benefits agreement that expires at midnight on Halloween. Because if we can just get it out of our minds, we can go back to business as usual. No one ever has to know.

But I’m not ready for all the secrets I uncover playing this game or for the way this man makes me feel.

And neither of us are prepared for just how haunted the house turns out to be.

Forever After Fall is Bristol and Anson’s book and is a standalone in the Purgatory Falls world.

Review:

It feels like forever (get it?…sorry) since we were first introduced to Anson and Bristol, and now their story is finally here! I was hoping we’d still get to see their story play out, and returning to Purgatory Falls for holiday stories is such a fun way to revisit all the characters, and learn more about their lives post Quiet Horsemen series.

As I said, we’ve seen Anson and Bristol pop up multiple times throughout the Quiet Horsemen series, but I really enjoyed getting to see characters from the town who weren’t directly in the center of all the crazy happening in the main series – as well as their perspectives on those who were. It’s those connections between as well that contribute to things being complicated in the romance department between these two – Bristol is one of Hazel’s best friends, and Anson is Hazel’s brother (and he was married to Bristol’s sister before she died). Without giving too much away, I think all of that was handled wonderfully in the story, and I look forward to hopefully seeing these two pop up again in the other books!

Special thanks to Maggie for allowing me to review an early copy – y’all know I’ll read anything she writes, and this one is such a perfect book for the fall season! This is a standalone, so you don’t need to have read the other books, but I’d highly recommend it. Plus, all of Maggie’s books take place in the same universe, so…might as well start at the beginning! I recommend her books for ages 18+ due to some of the mature content.
