Seventeen-year-old Claire Collins has a plan: get into college and leave North Carolina behind. What she doesn’t have is an idea for how to get rid of the local football star and womanizer extraordinaire—Adam Meade, who she can’t even avoid (despite many efforts), because Claire’s dad is the high school football coach.
Seventeen-year-old Adam Meade never fails. He always gets what he wants… until he meets Claire, the new girl who leaves him unnerved, pissed off, and confused. But there’s something about her that he just can’t resist…
With the bite of lemon meringue pie and the sugar of sweet tea, Surviving Adam Meade is a sexy and compelling young adult novel about two strong-willed people who think they know what they want but have no idea what they need.

A sweet, swoon-worthy, sarcastic read, Shannon Klare’s debut novel will leave you begging for more.
I have been searching in vain for an ARC of this book for months. I never read it on Wattpad, but as soon as I heard about it when it was chosen to be published, I knew that I absolutely had to have it. That was back during my senior year of high school, and I’ll be entering my sophomore year of college this September. So yeah, it’s been awhile. I’ve been so unbelievably excited for this book, and it did not disappoint.
First off, I just have to talk about the protagonist, Claire Collins. She’s ridiculously witty, sarcastic, and has such as snarky attitude–it’s awesome. She doesn’t take any crap from anybody, especially from Adam Meade. She’s such a strong and independent character, which is super cool to read.
Adam is sort of the same, although he usually comes across as more of a jerk than Claire does. However, he can be really sweet, and I loved the chemistry between him and Claire. His grandma, Wanda, was the absolute sweetest, and I loved her as an addition to both his and Claire’s story.
Riley, Adam and Claire’s friend, was so nice and supportive of Claire; she definitely defied all of the cheerleader stereotypes that a lot of books fall victim to. I would’ve liked to have seen even more scenes between her and Claire. (Can I suggest a bonus little novella type of thing about prom?)
I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not a sports person. Never have been, never will be, but I absolutely adore reading books that involve sports, like Surviving Adam Meade does with football. However, the majority of the scenes don’t really revolve around football, so if sports aren’t for you, still pick up this book.
A lot of the issues raised with the characters going to college in the fall are valid. It was actually really cool that Claire loves Auburn so much, because two of my cousins attend/attended there.
Overall, this book is hella cute, and I’m so glad that I got to read it. Another awesome book that originated on Wattpad! Definitely go preorder this one, or buy it when it’s released by Swoon Reads on August 14, 2018!
PS: I totally have no shame in admitting that my favorite cover won. I mean, c’mon people! It’s absolutely gorgeous!
