[ARC REVIEW] “Tempting the Player” (Campus Wallflowers #4) By: Rebecca Jenshak

The final book in the Campus Wallflowers series is here!

What is Tempting the Player by Rebeeca Jenshak about?

He’s the last guy I should fall for.

Valley U was supposed to be my fresh start after I escaped the glitz and glam of Hollywood.
I didn’t want to be the former child star who graced TV screens across the world.
I wanted to feel normal.
When the same hot guy runs past my off-campus house every day, I assume he’s another college student.
When he protects me from boys who still think of me as the character from their teenage dreams, I think he is being kind.
When my past comes back to haunt me, he makes me feel safe.
I’m falling hard and fast for a guy I barely know.
Until I realize my mysterious new crush has a secret.
He was hired to be my undercover bodyguard.

Tempting the Player is a grumpy / sunshine bodyguard romance with spice, banter, and a happily ever after. It’s the fourth book in the Campus Wallflowers series, and can be read as a standalone.

Rating: 4.5/5 Stars

Review:

First and foremost, I’m so sad that this series is over, and I hope some of the side characters get spin-off books of their own! (Especially Penelope Hart!) I’ve been reading the Campus Wallflowers series since the beginning, and I’ve absolutely loved getting to follow Daisy, Violet, Dahlia, and now Jane throughout their romance journeys (not to mention, the novellas with Felix’s twin sisters!). That being said, I really loved reading Jane and Hendrick’s story. All of the stories in the series were special, so it’s impossible for me to pick a favorite, but if I had to…I think Daisy and Jordan would tie with Jane and Hendrick. I’m a sucker for bodyguard romances, and this one was no exception. (Plus, it also had a hint of sports romance, too!)

The book had elements of suspense as well, with a bit of a mystery element that kept me guessing. Jane has a stalker, and it was driving me crazy trying to figure out who it was throughout the book! It was still a satisfying ending though, both with the threat, and with their relationship.

We’d already met some of Hendrick’s family in previous books of the series, and I’m hoping we get to see some of them with their own books in another series. Their dynamics were so intriguing, and I liked getting to see how their relationships evolved throughout the book.

One thing that I did think didn’t really match up with previous behavior was that when Jane was in the hospital (don’t worry, no spoilers!), Daisy, Violet, and Dahlia didn’t see her until she was out, and her parents didn’t fly in. None of their relationships were estranged, so I thought they’d would’ve been there.

Overall, I thought that this was a great ending to the Campus Wallflowers series, and I can’t wait to read more of Rebecca’s books! I hope we get to see these characters again soon in future books!
