Damon Siska’s love story is finally here! “Something Like Lust,” the second book in Piper Rayne’s Chicago Grizzlies series, is available now (and only $4.99 on Kindle!).
Official Synopsis:
Do it.
Don’t do it.
Never in my life did I think I’d wager in my head whether to sleep with Chicago Grizzlies wide receiver, Damon Siska.
He’s the perfect package—hot body, killer smile, and flirts like he earned a doctorate in it. But anyone who reads gossip blogs knows he is looking for one amazing night and nothing more.
I’m not the usual type of woman he beds. I’m a middle school teacher who cherishes her quiet nights in, drinking wine, and watching romantic comedies, dreaming I’m the heroine. I’m not embarrassed to admit—I want the fairy tale.
But Damon caught me at a weak moment. Fresh off a break-up and feeling lousy about myself, I gave into temptation and left the next morning like every other woman he’d slept with.
Except I walked away with more than just the memories when three weeks later the little white stick glowed with two pink lines.

Review:
Please note that this is the second book in the Chicago Grizzlies series, so it might contain some spoilers for the first book, Something Like Hate, which is Miles and Bryce’s love story! There’s also a short prequel called On the Defense that serves as an intro to the trilogy (Miles, Damon, and Cooper and their love interests) that I highly recommend reading before starting this trilogy, because it adds some extra context!
In the interest of full transparency, I’m not a fan of accidental/surprise pregnancy books — but I’ve loved the Kingsmen series and the first book in the Grizzlies series, so I knew I would love this one…and I was right! Piper and Rayne’s writing style is so easy to read, and they write such lovable characters. The transition of playboy Damon (fun fact: Damon is actually in the prequel to the Kingsmen trilogy, False Start) to domestic Damon happens really fast, but it didn’t really feel rushed, just him stepping up. I don’t want to spoil the gender of the baby, but all of Damon’s interactions with them are super sweet, and it was cute to see how the baby brings both of their families together.
Adeline’s work friends Isla and Sami kind of disappeared once Damon came back into Adeline’s life, and were only mentioned again briefly in the bonus epilogue. I thought that Isla was going to cause problems later on, but that didn’t happen, and it’s possible that she’ll get her own book eventually. She wasn’t a particularly great friend to Adeline, but I did expect her and Sami to meet the baby at some point.
We see a lot of Miles and Bryce and Cooper and Ellery, which I loved. Miles and Cooper are kind of the opposite of Damon, at least the old Damon, so seeing the three of them interacting again in this book was a lot of fun.
Overall, this was a great addition to the series, and it’s been my favorite accidental pregnancy I’ve ever read. I really hope we get to see more of them in Something Like Love, Cooper and Ellery’s story! As with all adult romance books, I recommend them for 18+ due to some of the sexual content, but as always, don’t let me tell you what to do.
Huge thanks to Piper and Rayne and Valentine PR for an advanced copy — the book is out now! (But I really suggest starting at the Kingsmen Football trilogy, because all of those books are great and take place first!)
