[ARC REVIEW] “Mr. Swoony” (The Nest #3) By: Piper Rayne

The third book in Piper Rayne’s hockey romance series, ‘The Nest,’ is here! Check out my book review of Conor and Eloise’s story below.

What is Mr. Swoony by Piper Rayne about?

Hockey players were never my type.

At least, that’s what I thought—until I met Conor Nilsen. In truth, I didn’t know he was the goalie for the Chicago Falcons when he struck up a conversation the night of my bachelorette party.

He proved he wasn’t just some hot guy looking to score when he helped me get my drunk bridesmaid safely back to our hotel. That’s when he discovered my 30-before-30 bucket list—a list I hadn’t managed to check a single item off.

What was meant to be a night of stargazing turned into so much more. The chemistry between us was undeniable, and after one innocent night together, I started to question everything—especially my upcoming wedding to a man I wasn’t sure loved me.

Fast forward to my wedding day, and just as I’m standing at the altar, Conor bursts through the church doors to object. And now, somehow, I’m his roommate. Yikes.

Rating: 4/5 Stars

Review:

Piper Rayne’s interconnected universe is so vast, that technically I could recommend reading all of their books to get the full experience of moving on the next, but I haven’t even gotten that far yet! You can read this one as a standalone, but I’d recommend at least reading the first two books in The Nest series first, because then reading Mr. Swoony will be that much more enjoyable. (It’s a slippery slope once you start going further back than that, because while it’ll add to your reading experience, you’ll just keep going back and back and back…you get the idea.)

I’m from the Chicago area, so I’ve loved getting to read books set near me for both The Next and the previous series, the Chicago Grizzlies. Needless to say, I was looking forward to reading Conor and Eloise’s story. The last sentence of the synopsis is a whirlwind, and my interest was immediately piqued. Piper Rayne can always be counted on to write a sweet, fast paced sports romance, and Mr. Swoony was no exception. (Roommates to lovers is an underrated trope that I definitely don’t get to read enough of, so that was really fun.) Conor and Eloise complement each other perfectly, and I had a great time reading their love story – their start may have been. Bit unconventional, but their journey (both together and completing Eloise’s bucket list) made it clear they were always meant to be. As always, I loved getting to see characters from the previous books as well as the hints for the next one!

Special thanks to Valentine PR & Piper Rayne for allowing me to read an advanced copy – the book is available now!
